Another complex and potentially dangerous contract safely and methodically undertaken by Metals and Plant Ltd. Not only was all work completed as always without incident, but the contract was finished a full week ahead of schedule, much to the delight of the principle contractor. This has in turn led to Metals and Plant Ltd securing another two contracts and is testimony to the hard work and attention to detail of our in house engineers. With the works being undertaken in a live shopping centre (Meadowhall) key requirements of the client was for no disturbance to shoppers throughout the works in relation to obvious issues such as noise, dust (silica) and confliction with shoppers (to name a few) while removing the substantial materials generated from our works, again all targets were surpassed by Metals and Plant Ltd. The contract in brief involved the full strip out of Goldsmiths, removal of shop front/glazing with some glazing panels in excess off 250kg In weight, removal of disabled lift, removal of all M&E equipment including the strip out of the roof top plant room with asbestos contaminated duct work. Then the dismantling and removal of the complete structural mezzanine floor with some structural steel beams being over 7.5m in length and weighing in excess of 1.5ton each. With access to the work area being limited to a normal double door and the only means of removing all materials being a small goods lift, no lifting equipment such as a crane or forklift could be utilised which made the works even more difficult/dangerous. But through tried and tested specialist hot and cold cutting techniques Metals and Plant Ltd was again able to complete all works safely.
