Metals and Plant were commissioned to undertake the decommissioning, demolition, dismantling and site clearance of the largest Steel works in Yorkshire, Tinsley Park Works, with over 25,000 tonnes of steel scrap being processed then removed from this 360 acre site. This contract lasted well over a year due to the sites vast footprint and huge amount of items needing either demolishing or carefully dismantling for reuse at Scunthorpe steel works. Some of these items to name but a few included countless buildings and associated machinery / plant, numerous sub stations and motor rooms, rolling mills, furnaces, chemical laboratory, tank farms, chimneys and over 20 gantry cranes the largest spanning 37m. All work was completed in a safe manner with no delays allowing the contract to be completed ahead of schedule.
